The Hartington Short Circular is a family-friendly adventure in the Peak District that will take you through the open farmland south of the village to explore Beresford Dale. While out on the trail, you will walk along the winding River Dove and be exposed to some picturesque views of the surrounding Derbyshire countryside. This walk offers a nice mix of rural and urban village pathways.
Getting there
To reach the Hartington Short Circular trailhead from Newhaven, make your way to the northwest on the A515 for 0.7mi and turn left onto the B5054, following it for 2.2mi into the heart of Hartington, where you will find the trailhead.

Hartington Short Circular Trail Description
While it is only a brief walk, the Hartington Short Circular is a spectacular family-friendly route that will allow you to experience the natural beauty of one of the many scenic dales that can be found in the Peak District. The trail sets out from the historic village and heads south across the open farmland to pass through a stretch of wood and eventually reach the edge of the River Dove. As you walk through the charming atmosphere of the Beresford Dale National Nature Reserve, take some time to relax and leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When you reach a bridge over the river do not cross it. Instead, head north along the trail and make your way back across the fields to return to the village feeling recharged and reconnected with the natural world.
