Maiden Peak from Deer Park Campground is a gorgeous hike when the sky is clear, and it lets you bag two summits in one go. This hike is moderately challenging and can be hot on a warm day, so bring plenty of water.
Begin from the trailhead near the ranger station, taking Obstruction Point/Deer Park Trail. There is an initial descent for the first half-mile, so keep in mind that you’ll need to finish the hike with an ascent.
Traverse a ridgeline, skirting to the left of an unnamed peak before wrapping around Green Mountain. You’ll continue along the ridge, curving around a bowl with a tiny lake visible below before making the final push atop Maiden Peak.
The trail does continue to Obstruction Point, and if you’ve prepared, you can continue on. Otherwise, savour the views from Maiden Peak before retracing your steps back to the trailhead.
