The Slieve Muck and Carn Mountain via Ott Track Walk is a spectacular journey that will lead you through the Mourne Mountains for some panoramic views over the rugged Northern Ireland landscape. While out walking the trail, you will make your way along a well-trodden path that climbs up the steep mountainside to produce exceptional views from the summits of Carn Mountain and Slieve Muck. Sections of this route are a bit challenging; however, the sweeping views across nearby peaks are well worth the effort.

The Slieve Muck and Carn Mountain via Ott Track trailhead can be found 5.4mi southeast of Hilltown, at the Ott car park on Slievenaman Road

If you are looking to bag a few peaks and enjoy some breathtaking views across the Mourne Mountains Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, then you will want to add the walk up Slieve Muck and Carn Mountain via Ott Track to your list of adventures.
Setting out from the Ott car park, you will head to the southeast and follow the track as it begins to climb uphill and cut across the rugged terrain of the mountainside. Here, you will skirt around Ott Mountain to arrive at a saddle with views overlooking Lough Shanna. At the junction, head to the southwest to continue climbing uphill and traverse the summit of Carn Mountain.
Here, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding Mourne Mountains, as well as several loughs and reservoirs in the valleys below. Continuing on to the southwest, you will make your way further uphill to reach the summit of Slieve Muck, again enjoying some wonderful views of the rugged landscape surrounding you. After taking in the views, simply retrace your steps to return back to the car park where you began your adventure.
