Shaw’s Bridge Circular Walk Description
If you are looking for a fantastic woodland adventure without straying too far from Belfast, then you will definitely want to explore the trails along the Shaw’s Bridge Circular Walk that is located along the southwestern edge of the city.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the southeast and enter into the dense cover of the forest, following along the path as it skirts the edge of Mary Peters Track to reach the River Lagan. After taking in the views of the flowing river, you will continue through the forest to the northeast, climbing slightly uphill before turning to the southeast to once again meet up with the river.
Here, you will follow the banks to the east for a while, where you will eventually receive some nice views of Shaw’s Bridge. Continue following the trail as it bends to the west, cutting across open fields and intermittent swathes of woodland terrain on the return to the car park where you began your adventure.
