Mullaghcarn and Gortin Forest Walk Description

If you are searching for a route that offers a nice variety of woodland and mountainous landscapes, without offering too much in the way of challenging terrain, then you should add the Mullaghcarn and Gortin Forest Walk to your to-do list.

Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the southeast and traverse the dense woodland landscape of the Gortin Glen Forest Park, climbing uphill until you eventually break free from the tree cover. At this point, you will push onward upon the mountainside to arrive at the summit of Mullaghcarn.

After taking in the views of the rugged landscape surrounding you, continue on to the southwest and traverse the undulating terrain that makes up the approach to the summit of Slieveard. Once again, you will enjoy some stunning views across Northern Ireland, before continuing downhill to the northwest. Passing through the forest, you will briefly climb uphill to the northeast, before once again descending the slopes on the way back to the car park where you began.
