While out walking the trail, you will make your way along the shores of a scenic lake, before looping through the forest to explore the rest of the park. This is a great walking route that the entire family can enjoy.

Whether you are after a spot of rest and relaxation on the trails or are trying to bump into the Queen while she’s on an official visit to Northern Ireland, the Hillsborough Forest Park Lake Walk is a spectacular woodland adventure with some beautiful scenery.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the northeast and follow along the shores of Hillsborough Forest Park Lake, taking some time to appreciate the calm woodland atmosphere as you make your way further along the trail and pass by Hillsborough Fort.
After meeting up with Ballynahinch Road, you will turn to the right and follow the footpath as it loops through the forest park to the southwest, offering a nice sense of relaxation as you meander through the tree cover. Eventually, the trail will turn back towards the northwest and bring you to the shores of the lake. From here, you will simply follow the water’s edge until you arrive back at the starting point of your adventure.
