Walking the Divis Mountain Heath and Ridge Trail is a fantastic outdoor excursion that will see you climb up the mountainside for views of the surrounding area. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill and loop around the summit of Divis, enjoying a commanding sightline that overlooks Belfast and the waters of Belfast Lough. This route can be a bit rugged at times; however, the views are absolutely worth the effort.
Getting there
The trailhead for the Divis Mountain Heath and Ridge Trail can be found just west of Belfast along Divis Road at the Divis Car Park.

Divis Mountain Heath and Ridge Trail Description
If you’ve been spending a fair amount of time in Belfast and want to gain a different perspective of the city, why not set out on the Divis Mountain Heath and Ridge Trail to gain an elevated view of both Belfast and the surrounding area.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the northeast and pass by The Barn Coffee Shop, which is a great place to grab some refreshments for your walk. Shortly after this, you will turn left along the Heath Trail and begin climbing uphill to the north on a loop around the summit of Divis, which will produce some stunning views overlooking the city of Belfast.
After rounding the summit, the traill will turn to the south to traverse the summit of Black Mountain, before heading southwest along the Ridge Trail. From here, you will turn back to the northwest to meet up with the initial path of your walk, following it west past the coffee shop on the return to the car park where you started.
