The Lymington Circular Walk is a lovely circular route from the historic port town of Lymington along the coastline of the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve, a hub for migratory birds and other wildlife. With a well-maintained path and a variety of landscapes, including marinas, rivers and marshes, it’s a great walk that’s best combined with a visit to one of Lymington’s charming pubs afterwards. The Lymington Circular Walk is mostly flat, making it suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities, including four-legged friends.
Getting there
To get to the start of the Lymington Circular Walk, head to the town’s bustling High Street and walk towards the Lymington Quay Side at the waterfront with views of the Lymington River. The walk ends back in the town where you should definitely enjoy a cold one at the pub.

The Lymington Circular Walk takes you through the picturesque coastal marshes and flats of the Lymington Nature Reserve. This half-day excursion shows off Lymington’s historic architecture, maritime history, and lovely waterfront before taking you along the footpaths along lagoons and sea walls.
A mostly flat walk, the trail is family-friendly and offers several scenic spots, like the Eight Mile Pond and the Normandy Lagoon. Watch out for the flocks of migratory birds that call this nature reserve home. After walking along the coast, the route takes you back into the centre of town where you can relax at one of the many restaurants and pubs. And you’re sure to get boat envy after walking past so many marinas and sailor’s clubs as the maritime roots run deep in Lymington.
