The Private Arch Trail is a rugged path along the Devils Garden Primitive Trail and then up a short spur trail to this beautiful sandstone arch. This trail is not maintained and requires some route finding and light scrambling. Arrive prepared with good hiking shoes and a sense of adventure, and this trail will be one your favorites in Arches National Park.
Getting there
The Private Arch Trail begins at the Devil’s Garden Trailhead. This trailhead is at the end of Main Park Road, approximately 18.0mi from the Arches Visitor Center off of highway 191.

Private Arch Trail Description
The Private Arch Trail is a short, moderately challenging route in the beautiful Devils Garden Area of Arches National Park. This trail is not maintained and not particularly well marked, so hikers should be prepared to travel over steep/uneven ground and do some route finding. Bring lots of water with you on this hike and be sure to wear a sturdy pair of hiking shoes. The rugged nature of this trail makes it one of the less popular routes in an otherwise very popular area, so this hike can be a great opportunity to get away from the crowds and explore the beauty that Arches National Park has to offer.
From the Devils Garden Trailhead, follow the main trail for 0.3mi to the first junction, stay left here. Continue for another 0.5mi to the second junction—take a right to start on the “Devils Garden Primitive Loop”. Follow the loop for 1.7mi to a divide—take a left here to head south down to the Private Arch.
Rest here before turning around and following the same path out. Alternatively, you can continue on to finish the Devils Garden Loop and explore the other magnificent arches in the area.
