Difficulty Rating:
The 1.6mi Luss Heritage Trail is a family favourite, and with plenty to see, it’s no wonder this walk is so popular. Beginning in the delightful village of Luss, this short trail takes in the historic, model village before continuing through woodlands and the Riverside Path and finishes with a gorgeous stretch lochside. The trail weaves natural beauty and history remarkably, with fascinating sites along the way, like a 7th-century cemetery. Although the walk is family-friendly, the trail does incorporate some steps, so if walking with a child-buggy, two people to lift it will likely be necessary.
Getting there
To get to the Luss Heritage Trail, from Luss Pier, head southwest on Pier Rd toward School Road, then turn right on School Road. Continue a short distance then turn right and right again to enter the Luss Visitor Center Car Park where the walk begins.

The Luss Heritage Trail presents a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park while also taking in a historical village. Excellent paths pave the way on this short trail that weaves through the pretty village of Luss, taking in its lovely stone cottages and historic buildings. The walk features some steps, but the majority of the trail unfolds on flat ground.
Nestled in the shadow of the hills, Luss is a village steeped in history and legends. Its position on the shore of Loch Lomond adds to its beauty and charm, and this short walk is the perfect way to experience it. The walk leads through the village itself before heading through woodlands to join the River Path. You’ll take in historic sites along the way, like the town church built in 1875 and a cemetery with gravestones dating back to the 7th-century.
