Lola Montez Trail Description
Escape the stressors of the real world and head out into nature along the Lola Montez Trail. This easy-going backcountry adventure exhibits the beauty of California’s alpine terrain. As this trek wanders over several snowmelt streams, it is often muddy and wet in the spring, so don’t wear your new pair of white runners! Additionally, much of the trail is rocky and uneven, so ankle-bracing footwear may come in handy! No matter the season, no matter the path conditions, the view of Lower Lola Montez Lake is sure to impress.
Setting out from the trailhead, the Lola Montez Hike follows the Lower Lola Montez Trail before merging onto Castle Creek Drive. Follow this route through the woodlands and over several charming, babbling creeks. Let the sounds of the gurgling waters lull you into a state of relaxation as you wander. Soon you will reconnect with the Lower Lola Montez Trail, heading north, before quickly hooking onto the Lola Montez Road.
Follow the road north, gradually climbing through the woodlands. At the end of the route, you will once again merge onto the Lower Lola Montez Trail, which will deliver you to the lake. Revel in the postcard worthy scene of the shimmering waters, bounding pines, and encompassing mountains. After admiring the scenery, head back to the trailhead the way you came.
