The Seathwaite Fell Walk is a rugged Lake District adventure that will see you traverse several summit viewpoints for a great sightline across the surrounding landscape. While out on the trail, you will reach the top of Base Brown, Seathwaite Fell, Allen Crags, and Glaramara, all while enjoying beautiful Lakeland views. This is a great route if you enjoy scenic views and don’t mind climbing up and down the hillside along the length of the trail.
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Seathwaite Fell Walk from the village of Rosthwaite, make your way south on B5289 for 1.3mi and turn left onto Styhead Pass. Follow this for 1.2mi to arrive at the car park.

Seathwaite Fell Walk Description
The Seathwaite Fell Walk is a rugged trail that is popular with fell baggers and casual walkers that are looking for a bit of a challenge with stunning views. The route sets out from seathwaite and climbs up the steep hillside to the summit of Base Brown before continuing on to the south to pass the calm waters of Styhead Tarn and Sprinkling Tarn. From here, you will turn to the north to make a gradual ascent of Seathwaite Fell to enjoy some beautiful views of the surrounding fells before retracing your steps back to the tarns. Heading to the southeast, you will eventually reach the summit of Allen Crags, at which point, you will turn to the northeast to traverse the undulating terrain along the summits of Red Beck Top, Looking Steads, and Glaramara before descending the hillside on the return to the trailhead.
