Lingmoor Fell Walk

Although the Lingmoor Fell Walk is a fairly laid-back adventure, it does feature a few sections of uphill climbing. While these will be manageable for walkers of most skill levels, they should be noted because of some rocky/rugged terrain. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes for this journey.

This route is popular due to the fact that it requires little in the way of physical effort, but produces some nice landscape views of the surrounding valleys and hills. The elevation gain along the walk is enough to provide a bit of a challenge for kids without being too difficult, making it a great option for getting the entire family out to explore the Lake District.

Setting out from the Blea National Trust car park, make your way north along the road for 0.3mi and enjoy the views of the calm waters of Blea Tarn on your left. With the grounds of Blea Tarn House on your left, make a right turn to pick up the trail, following it to the southeast as it climbs uphill alongside a winding stream and sparse stretch of woodland terrain. After 0.5mi of walking uphill, turn left at the junction and keep straight until you arrive at the summit of Lingmoor Fell.

From this rugged summit viewpoint, you will have a sightline that stretches out across the Great Langdale Valley to the northeast, the Little Langdale Valley to the south, and all of the surrounding Lake District fells.

After taking in the views, head to the northwest along the trail for 0.8mi and enjoy the views overlooking Blea Tarn. Eventually, you will arrive at the summit of Side Pike, where you will experience some more amazing views that sweep across the undulating landscape of the surrounding area.

From here, follow the trail south for 0.2mi to descend the hillside and arrive back at the edge of the road. Turn right and follow the road past Blea Tarn House, eventually making your way back to the car park where you began the Lingmoor Fell Walk.
