Derwent Water Circular Walk Description
Walking the Derwent Water Circular is a popular activity for casual and experienced adventurers alike, as the trail is long enough for a solid day out on the trails without being overly difficult. When combined with some beautiful Lake District views, it’s easy to see why this route is so well-liked. Setting out from the trailhead near the Theatre by the Lake, the trail will take you south along the shores of Derwent Water. As you make your way along the edge of the lake, you will pass through some lovely stretches of forest and enjoy beautiful views that sweep across the water. After crossing over the River Derwent and traversing a section of boardwalk, the trail will turn towards the north to travel along the western shore of Derwent Water. From here, you will enjoy an opposite perspective of the lake, as you complete the return leg of the journey that crosses over the River Greta and passes through Keswick to arrive back at the trailhead where you began.
