Natterer See Trail Description
From the bus stop, cross the road towards the hill and the forest (to the south, in direction of Mentlberg-Siedlung). Follow the road there uphill until you see a yellow signpost. Take the trail going right and follow the forest road uphill. The trail is named Natterer See Weg and it is trail number six. Follow this trail, and after about five to ten minutes you’ll reach a little settlement with houses called Waldhüttl.
After the houses there is an open red barrier gate. Continue through there until you reach a junction. Take the Geroldschluchtweg path (trail number 6A). This trail will change from a forest road to a narrow trail, and it will take you up to a plateau at the shore of Natterer See lake.
Entry to the lake is not free. If you want to swim you need to pay a fee. There is also a restaurant and a campground built around the little lake.
At the plateau you will reach a junction where you’ll go right to make your way to the west side of the lake. From the corner of the lake, go left onto the street. Follow this street until you see the next yellow signpost. From the signpost, you take the trail leading into the forest, which will appear on your left after you pass the edge of the lake and some houses.
This trail gains some elevation, leading you to a big meadow used by farmers. You will probably see cows grazing here. As you pass through the meadow on the road you will come to Gasthof Eichhof (a restaurant) where you can buy some food or drinks and use the toilet.
Shortly afterwards, you will reach a junction. Go left onto trail number five – the Andreas Hofer Weg. This path takes you back down to the little settlement of Waldhüttl. From Waldhüttl you’ll walk back the same way you came from to the bus stop.

Insider Hints
Gasthof Eichhof is a nice stop for beverages. But, this is also a great spot for a picnic as there are a lot of nice meadows.
At the lake they also have beach volleyball fields, trampolines, a kayak tour company/school, a water park and a lot more cool things. Your kids will not want to leave - plan for extra time!
