Route Description for Nad Dlhym Vodospadem
The trail to Nad Dlhym Vodospadem, or Over the Long Waterfall, is a short hike from Hrebienok. This hike is perfect for families with small kids. It’s also a cognitive trail, which means that you will find quite a few stands with the information about the local flora and fauna.
You can get to Hrebienok from Stary Smokovec. Either hike up the green trail, which should take about an hour, or get on the funicular which is just north of the Smokovec Church.
When you’re up, just follow the green trail which leads to the Vodopady Studeneho Potoka. You will start descending the rocky stairs. Later on, you will pass through a beautiful mountain chalet called the Bilikova Chata. Leave the Chalet on your right and continue following the green trail. There will be a few minor switchbacks down. Along the route, you will see some great mountain views on your right.
After that, you will immerse yourself in the forest. After a few minutes, you will reach the crossroad which is also your destination – the streams under the Long Waterfall.
It’s a beautiful place to spend some time with the kids and family or have a picnic. You can sit on the huge rock boulders and watch the heavy streams of water passing right next to you down the Great Cold Valley.
After your rest here, you can either go back the same trail, or you can consider extending the hike and continuing the green trail until it meets the red one, going to the Zamkovskeho Chalet. You can also go down the yellow trail which will lead you to the town of Tatranska Lesna.

Start early as it’s one of the most crowded places in the park.
Consider going back on the red trail which would make it a longer loop. This would still be suitable for families with young kids.

Spectacular waterfall. It's not that big as others I've seen before, but it got some charm of its own.

The paved walkways were neat and well-maintained. There are few stores where you can buy snacks before or after the hike.
