Pinnacles Valley Trail is a very quick hike in Crater Lake National Park that shows off a set of interesting rocky spires created by volcanic ash after past volcanic eruptions. This hike is very short, entirely flat, and suitable for hikers of all ability levels and ages. It’s also right inside the eastern entrance to the park, so you can do it on the way in or out. Expect light traffic.

Pinnacles Valley Trail Description

Pinnacles Valley Trail is a unique hike in Crater Lake National Park that shows off rock towers created by volcanic ash after past volcanic eruptions. This hike is very short, flat, and easy enough for all hikers to complete. It’ll likely take you less than 20 minutes to enjoy the scenery before you continue on to explore the rest of the park.

The hike is located just inside the eastern park entrance, so stop by on your way in or out. There’s parking on the side of the road. The hike follows the rim of a canyon. The best view of the Pinnacles at the start, then you’ll hike east along the trail to the end at the entrance. From here, turn back and retrace your steps, enjoying a wide-open and interesting view of these gray spires.
