Difficulty Rating:
The Castle Crest Wildflower Garden Trail is a route that leads you through a meadow to a stream in Crater Lake National Park. This hike is short and easy enough for all ages and skill levels. We definitely recommend this one if you’re visiting in June and July when the blooms are out in full force. Hiking outside of the wildflower season offers a less enticing, but still pleasant, experience.

Castle Crest Wildflower Garden Trail Description
The Castle Crest Wildflower Garden Trail is the best way to enjoy summer wildflower blooms in Crater Lake National Park. The hike is short and peaceful, and when the flowers are at their peak (June and July), you’ll be able to wade through a meadow of them to a stream.
Doing this hike after the blooming season offers a less impressive experience, but it’s still a nice way to stretch your legs. This is a family-friendly trail, but dogs are not permitted.
From the visitor center, cross E Rim Drive and hike roughly south on the obvious trail. This connector route doesn’t have many flowers yet, but once you get out of the forest in about a third of a mile, you can enjoy the colors of the flowers dotting the grass. Two bridges cross the creek, then you’ll return back to the visitor center on the connector trail.
