Leafield and Field Assart Walk Description
While the Leafield and Field Assart Walk is a fairly simple and straightforward adventure, there are some portions of the route that will require you to walk alongside country roads. If you are attempting this walk with young children or dogs, be sure to remain aware of your surroundings and keep clear of any traffic. Additionally, the pastures in the area will most likely contain grazing cattle or horses, so keep your canine friends on a lead to avoid any potentially dangerous interactions. Other than that, the Leafield and Field Assart Walk makes for a pleasant afternoon of roaming the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside.
Setting out from the trailhead in Leafield, make your way east and enjoy the charming village setting, before turning right onto Witney Lane just before the Church of Saint Michael and All Angels. From here, you will break off from the road and traverse the open farmland to the east, before turning south to walk along the edge of a scenic wood. Following the tree-lined edge of the field, you will eventually meet up with Riding Lane, continuing along it for a short distance to eventually turn to the west on the way to Field Assarts. Reaching the quaint hamlet, turn to the north and make your way into the open countryside, traversing the scenic fields on the return to the starting point of the walk in Leafield.
