Walking the Blenheim Park Circular is a fantastic outdoor activity that can be found just on the edge of The Cotswolds AONB and allows you to explore the grounds of Blenheim Palace, the primary residence of the Dukes of Marlborough and the birthplace of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill. While out on the trail, you will meander the banks of the River Glyme and take in spectacular views of the grand estate and its immaculate buildings. Small amounts of elevation gain and easy to navigate terrain make this a great family walking route.

Blenheim Park Circular Walk Description

An afternoon spent walking the Blenheim Park Circular Trail is an easy win by any means, offering well-manicured walkways, picturesque estate grounds, masterfully constructed buildings, and loads of history around every corner. Blenheim Palace is the only non-royal country house in England to be titled a palace, and rightfully so, as it is also one of the largest. The only downside to this adventure is that portions of the trail are sometimes closed off to the public, meaning that you will need to adjust your walk on the fly. This isn’t really a big deal, as there is so much beautiful scenery in the surrounding area to make up for it.

Setting out from the small village of Bladon, the trail will lead you to the west to cross over the River Glyme and meander along its banks. After climbing gently uphill through a lovely stretch of woodland terrain, you will circle around the north side of the lake and make your way over the Grand Bridge to arrive at the palace grounds. After taking some time to admire the palace itself and the well-manicured gardens, follow the path as it turns to the south on the return leg of the journey back to the trailhead.
