Lanhydrock Gardens Circular Walk Description:
There isn’t anything bad that one can say about the Lanhydrock Gardens Circular Walk, as it doesn’t feature anything in the way of challenging terrain or unkept trails. However, the walk does require an entry fee, as the site is managed by the National Trust.
Even though you have to pay to enjoy this scenic trail, you will not be disappointed, as the lovely country house and immaculate gardens offer plenty of highlights that will be well worth the price. Throughout the walk you will enjoy peaceful gardens, serene woodlands, and winding rivers, which makes for a fun day outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way south through the tree cover along a path that runs parallel to the laneway. Eventually, you will break free of the tree cover and walk through the open grounds of the estate, with views of Lanhydrock House to the southwest. After arriving at the gate house, turn right and follow the path as it approaches the magnificent Victorian Era mansion.
Keeping to the right, you will make your way through the well-manicured Lanhydrock gardens, following the pathway as it circles around the house and begins to lead you in a southeastern direction. Here, you will make your way through a serene stretch of woodland terrain and head downhill until you arrive at the banks of the River Fowey.
Turning left, you will follow along the water’s edge to the northeast and cross over the river, continuing on alongside the rail line until you reach Respryn Bridge. Crossing over the bridge, you will follow along the laneway as it leads to the west, allowing you to experience the beauty of the estate grounds before bringing you directly in front of Lanhydrock House. From here, you will turn back to the north and follow your initial footsteps back to the trailhead where you began your adventure along the Lanhydrock gardens Circular Walk.
