The Kings Wood and Pentewan Riverwalk is an amazing outdoor excursion in Cornwall that will lead you through the peaceful woodland terrain of the Pentewan Valley. While out walking the trail, you will pass through the valley along the winding banks of the St Austell River, while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the surrounding forest. While this walk isn’t overly difficult, you will certainly want to wear proper waterproof walking boots, as the trail can be wet and muddy at times.
Getting there
The trailhead for the Kings Wood and Pentewan Riverwalk can be found at the car park on W End, within the village of Pentewan.

Kings Wood and Pentewan Riverwalk Trail Description
If you find yourself in Cornwall and have a few spare hours to explore the outdoors, then you should definitely consider strolling along the forested trails of the Kings Wood and Pentewan Riverwalk. This lovely route will allow you to slow down and escape the chaos of the outside world while taking in the natural beauty of the outdoors.
Setting out from the car park in the seaside village of Pentewan, you will make your way to the northwest to enter into the dense cover of the forest and follow along the banks of the St Austell River. Keeping the water’s edge close to your left, take some time to really lose yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the forested expanse of the Pentewan Valley, before arriving at a junction with the Pentewan Valley Trail towards the north end of the route.
Here, you will cross over the track and make your way uphill to the northeast, before turning to the south to traverse the forested slopes of the valley from an elevated position. Eventually, you will descend the hillside and continue on to the southeast through the lovely forest in order to arrive back at the trailhead where you began your adventure.
