We love the Mount Buckhorn via High Drive Trail, and we think you will too. If you don’t mind a bit of a climb and some breathtaking views, then we can almost guarantee you will enjoy this trek. Travel through mixed pine forests interspersed with aspens and granite outcroppings—how scenic! It isn’t just the lush woodlands that are pretty, but the views of the foothills and verdant canyons below are the cherry on top! Enjoy this incredibly picturesque trek by foot or mountain bike!

Embark on your exciting adventure along the Mount Buckhorn via High Drive Trail from the Gold Camp Trailhead. From here, head northeast along the High Drive Trail. This path will climb through the woodlands, demanding some stamina and careful footing. Enjoy the forested terrain as you ascend to an intersection. Here, keep left, and you will be diverted onto the Captain Jack’s Trail. This path will guide you along the southern slope of Mount Buckhorn. Revel in the scene of the rolling foothills through the tree breaks.

Follow this path west, to another junction. At this point, hikers will take the leftmost route, descending the Mount Buckhorn Trail. At the base of the path, you will reach yet another fork in the road. Here, keep left and hike the Gold Camp Road east back to the trailhead, completing your circuit hike.
