Difficulty Rating:
The West Wycombe Woods Circular may be on the shorter side, but it will still get your heart rate up, especially after climbing the hill to the Dashwood Mausoleum. However, the village and countryside views sprawled below will definitely make up for the momentary leg and lung burn. While this hike is family-friendly, younger children may struggle with the hill climb. Another highlight is passing through the woods maintained by the National Trust!
Getting there
To get to the start of the West Wycombe Woods Circular, go to High Wycombe and follow W Wycombe Road. When you reach the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A40 and continue before turning right onto Chorley Road. The West Wycombe Car Park will be on your left!

West Wycombe Woods Walk Description
Get your entire family out in the Chilterns and ready to take on the West Wycombe Woods Circular walk! You may be huffing and puffing near the beginning of your walk after climbing up to the Dashwood Mausoleum, but the views from atop the hill and woodland scenery throughout the walk will keep everyone happy! While younger children can do this walk, it may be tough on their little legs, so it’s definitely up to your discretion whether your kids will enjoy it or not.
From the car park, you’ll cross over the road and will embark on one of the well-used paths leading up the side of the steep hill. Be sure to pause to look back at the views as you make your way up! After reaching the summit, enjoy some woodland scenery before taking on another hill near the middle of the loop. But don’t worry! The rest of the walk takes you down the hill and through more lovely scenery.
You will have to navigate stiles and gates on this walk!
