College Lake Wildlife Walk Description
The College Lake Wildlife Circular Walk in the Chilterns is a lovely walk that takes you alongside a scenic lake. However, some sections can be tough to navigate due to rain propelling uneven ground. Most of this route follows a hard, bumpy path and a natural grass path, making it essential to wear comfortable, stable shoes that can withstand puddles post-rain. At one point, the path narrows and runs almost right next to the lake. Two sections will have you walking along some steps. Due to the wildlife in the area, no dogs are allowed on this walk except for guide dogs. Lastly, keep in mind that the area is open from 10 am – 5 pm every day except for Mondays!
Expect to immerse in quiet, stunning scenery on this lakeside walk! Nothing beats the hum of birds singing while gazing at lakefront views. The short time frame makes this walk an excellent option for anyone looking for a pleasant stroll in the Great Outdoors.
After passing the College Lake Visitor Centre by the car park, take a right to begin the loop in a counterclockwise direction. Continue to follow the loop around the lake. You can’t get lost! The path will fade from a natural grass path to a more firm track that can be uneven or bumpy at points throughout the walk. You’ll pass by several bird hides!
Continue walking along the path until you loop back to where you started.
