Getting there
To get to the start of the Clipper Down, Steps Hill, and Pittone Hill Loop from Berkhamsted, follow the B4506 toward the Ashridge Golf Club but turn left before you get there to go to Ashridge NT Car Park. Pass by this car park and continue until the end of the road!

The Clipper Down, Steps Hill, and Pittone Hill Loop takes you on a half-day journey through the undulating Chilterns! Expect some quad-burning sections as you climb hills as well as relaxing areas that take you through open fields and secluded woodland. You will also travel along a picturesque section of the National Ridgeway Trail. From the car park, head in the opposite direction of the Bridgewater Monument (you’ll pass it on your way back) and go past the National Trust Visitor Centre toward Aldbury to kickstart your loop through woodland, fields, and the undulating countryside. Spend 4-5 hours basking in nature before returning to your car, passing by the Bridgewater Monument en route at the very end.
