The Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte Waterfalls Circular Walk is a beautifully scenic walking route in Wales that will take you through two forested river valleys to view stunning waterfalls. While out walking the trail, you will traverse the undulating woodland terrain along the banks of Nedd Fechan and Afon Mellte, taking in the views of Lady’s Fall, Sgwd Uchaf Clun Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn, and Sgwd yr Eira in the process. This is a lovely adventure if you are looking to cram as many waterfalls into your day as possible.

If you enjoy lovely riverside settings, cascading waterfalls, and serene stretches of forest, then the Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte Waterfalls Circular Walk is the perfect route for you. In addition to the waterfalls listed above, you will find several other small waterfalls along each of the rivers, making for a magical experience on the trails of Brecon Beacons National Park.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will pass by The Angel Inn and make your way into the cover of the forest to the north, following along the west bank of Nedd Fechan as it snakes through the picturesque woodland landscape. Eventually, you will arrive at the site of Lay’s Fall, where you can pause and take in the views of the cascading water. Don’t spend too long here though, as there are plenty of other falls located throughout the route.
Continuing on to the northeast, you will follow along the winding banks of the river while taking in the views of several smaller waterfalls, before climbing uphill to the northeast to arrive near the Cwm Porth car park. From here, the route will turn to the south along Afon Mellte, taking you to the picturesque Sgwd Uchaf Clun Gwyn and Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn waterfalls. After a brief detour to the southeast to meet the banks of Afon Hepste and the visually stunning Sgwd yr Eira falls, you will make your way to the southwest through the forested river valley in order to return to the trailhead in Pontneddfechan.
