The Beaver Pond Trail is a quick and easy adventure in Algonquin Provincial Park that will lead you around a charming lake for beautiful views across the water. While out on the trail, you will traverse some pleasant woodland terrain around the lake and witness the effect that the local beavers can have on the landscape. While this is a fairly short and easy hike, there are some sections of uphill hiking along uneven terrain, making it unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Beaver Pond Trail Description

While the Beaver Pond Trail is a nice and easy hike that can be enjoyed by most of the hikers passing through Algonquin Provincial Park, there is a bit of uphill terrain that will prove to be challenging for those with limited mobility or families travelling with strollers. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking footwear when out exploring this trail. Additionally, the location of the trailhead right along the highway and the short nature of the route make it a popular hike for beginner hikers and those passing through. As such, parking can be limited during the height of summer.

Setting out from the trailhead, follow the path south through the forest and keep right at the fork. Here, the trail will turn to the southwest and climb slightly uphill, eventually bringing you to the quaint shores of Amikeus Lake. After taking in the views across the calm waters of the lake, follow the trail as it bends to the southeast along the banks of Amikeus Creek. At this point, you will loop around a smaller pond and have an insight into the habitat of some local beavers on the return to the parking area where you started your hike.
