Yorkshire Dales National Park
Things to do in Yorkshire Dales National Park
The Yorkshire Dales may have become an official national park in England in the 1950s, but the folklore-like scenery will sweep you back sometime centuries ago. Walking through the tumbling green valleys lined with drystone dykes and quaint, longstanding villages with grazing sheep mirrors stepping into the pages of the past. And, things get supernatural when you stand amidst the wonderland of limestone karsts jetting in the southern Dales. The diverse scenery makes for unforgettable outdoor adventures that can be tailored to all ages and abilities.
While Yorkshire Dales boasts an unreal blend of countryside scenery and supernatural karsts, the area is most famous for its Three Peaks: Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside. And you probably guessed it, but these soaring peaks are bucket-list hotspots. Most people come to the Yorkshire Dales to walk; however, cycling and cave explorations are other popular outdoor activities! Cyclists will enjoy a variety of short, long, road and mountain biking routes, with the most challenging being the 130.5mi Yorkshire Dales Cycleway. Or do something completely different by stepping into one or more of the 2500 caves carved into the limestone. In short, the range of things to do in Yorkshire Dales National Park will keep boredom at bay. Just make sure to book in advance as the lack of public hotels means that any spare beds tend to fill quickly!
