Peak District
A holiday to the Peak District should be on the bucket list for any outdoor enthusiasts planning a trip to England. Located at the southern end of the Pennines, the Peak District was the first national park in the UK, formed in 1951. The name itself is a little misleading as there are more large hills, valleys, gorges, and plateaus than peaks. None the less, it is a beautiful and stunning park to visit.
We love a trip to the Peak District because the outdoors can be enjoyed year-round. Although the landscape may vary from snow covered hills to heather-covered moors depending on the time of year, we find it accessible no matter the season.
Walking or cycling are the most common activities in the Peak District, and you can find some pretty amazing walks here such as The Great Ridge and Win Hill, or the ever so popular hike up Kinder Scout.
Of course, a holiday to the Peak District would not be complete without staying in one or two of the lovely villages found inside the park. The Peak District caters well to tourists, with all levels of accommodation from campsites to fine B&B’s and hotels. To truly experience the warmth and hospitality of the Peak District, stop into the village pub for an evening and enjoy the history and charm of village life.
