Lady of the Woods Trail

While we don’t suggest carving into anything you find in nature these days, back in the early 1900s, a physician carved a woman into a boulder in Crater Lake National Park. You can take the Lady of the Woods Trail to check out this carving. It’s an easy hike suitable for all ages.

The hike starts around the backside of the Visitor Center. You’ll cross Munson Creek and begin your loop through the trees. The boulder is fairly early on in the hike, and the remainder continues through the trees. You’ll be able to see some cabins built into nature here as well as some mountain views. These cabins were designed to be as merged with nature as possible.

Stay right at the fork to begin your loop back, which mostly follows Munson Creek back to your starting point.
