Embark on your adventure along the Tallac Historic Site Loop from the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. From here, track northwest past the Lake of the Sky Amphitheatre. On your left, you will be granted views of the vibrant meadowlands and Jakes Peak dominating the skyline. Continue hiking north, and you will eventually near the shores of Lake Tahoe and Kiva Beach. The path will soon divert you east, along the beach. Rejuvenate your feet in the chilly alpine waters and marvel at the views of the shimmering lake hemmed by craggy peaks.

You will eventually enter the Tallac Historic Site as you wander along the shoreline, reaching the Baldwin Home first. Admire the architecture of the wood building, then continue trekking east over to Pope House. Travel back in time as you meander through the historic estate, and you will soon pass the Valhalla Boathouse Theater. Here, head out to the end of the dock for a more panoramic vista of Lake Tahoe, then head southwest back through the grounds, passing servant cabins and Anita’s cottage. Setting out from here, you will be guided away from the shoreline, southwest through mixed forestlands, over Heritage Way and Tallac Road, back to the trailhead.
