Brown’s Cabin Trail Description

The Brown’s Cabin Trail is a must-venture the next time you find yourself near the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. This stunning adventure exhibits the beauty of nature as it guides hikers through towering evergreens, vibrant aspen groves, and luxuriant meadows that reveal epic sights of the looming dramatic peaks. Traveling into the wilderness, it is essential to be mindful of wildlife and maintain distance if you do have an encounter. Additionally, this path follows streams, making for some wet and muddy segments of the trail, so wear water-resistant shoes and mind your footing! Strap on some snowshoes to navigate the snow-packed terrain in the fall and winter months. Note the road to the trailhead is subject to seasonal closure after the snowfalls!

Embark on your journey along the Brown’s Cabin Trail from the Denny Creek Trailhead. From here, follow the Brown’s Pass Trail north along the gurgling waters of the stream. You will eventually encounter an intersection; stay left. Traveling through the forestlands, the trail will sparingly intersect with meadows that reveal views of the looming peaks along the way. At the next junction, veer right and begin your push to Brown’s Pass. From the top of the pass, you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Colorado’s mountainous landscape before dipping below the treeline again to Brown’s Cabin.

Take time to explore the remains of the historic Cabin and the old mine shafts. This is also a great place to rest and rehydrate before beginning your return. Then, when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
