Wall Arch and Pine Tree Arch

The Hike to Pine Tree Arch and beyond to Wall Arch is a short, family-friendly hike past some of the most spectacular arch formations in Arches. As with any desert hike, this trail gets very hot in the summer, so hikers should bring along sunscreen, a good sunhat, and more water than they think they’ll need. This trail is well maintained and well-marked, so it’s a great place to start out as a beginner hiker in the area. In the summer, this trail is peppered with beautiful desert wildflowers and is a great way to introduce kids to the flora of Arches National Park.

From the Devil’s Garden Trailhead, follow the well-marked pathed northwest. After just a quarter mile, the trail will divide. Follow the path on your right to head north a short distance to another divide and go left to see Pine Tree arch and right to Tunnel Arch. After checking out these two arches, backtrack to the first divide and continue on the left-hand path. The trail continues ahead for a half-mile until it divides once more. Stick left to continue on to the Landscape Arch viewpoint. This arch is one of the largest natural arch formations globally and is truly a sight to behold. After admiring this natural wonder, continue down the trail for another 0.1mi to a viewpoint overlooking the remains of Wall Arch.

Wall Arch collapsed in the summer of 2008, but the remains still stand. Appreciate this ever-changing landscape, and enjoy a rest at this monument before turning back and following the same path back to the car.
