Blaen-y-Glyn Uchaf and Wellington Bomber Memorial Trail

If you are looking for a mixture of terrain on your next walk in Brecon Beacons National Park and are also hoping to visit some historical sites, then the Blaen-y-Glyn Uchaf and Wellington Bomber Memorial Trail will be a great route for you to explore.

Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the northwest alongside the forest, following the waters of Nant Bwrefwr as you climb uphill along the mountainside and experience views of small, cascading waterfalls. As you gain elevation, you will gain sweeping views overlooking the hills, mountains, and valleys of Brecon beacons National Park.

Following the trail as it loops around the peaks of Bwlch y Ddwyallt and Waun-Rydd, you will eventually arrive at the crash site of a plane from the Second World War. Here, the entire 6 man Canadian crew of Wellington Bomber lost their lives after the plane crashed in November of 1944. After visiting the site, you will make your way south to descend the mountainside, eventually following the banks of Caerfanell and taking in the views of several other waterfalls, before passing through the wooded expanse of Blaen-y-Glyn on the return leg to the car park.
