Craig-y-Cilau Walk Description
If you are looking for a relatively short adventure that features a mixture of tranquil forests, uphill walking, and scenic views of imposing rock faces, then the Craig-y-Cilau Walk will be a great option for you to get out and explore the natural beauty of Brecon Beacons National Park.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northwest along a lane, keeping right at the fork to head downhill and eventually enter into some tree cover. From here, you will follow the path as it turns west to lead you alongside a small stream, providing a relaxing woodland setting to explore as you stroll along the water’s edge.
Eventually, you will exit the forest and follow the trail as it bends to the northwest, offering some nice views of the imposing rock face that was once used to quarry limestone. Continue walking along the trail as it loops south, taking you uphill along the edge of the rock for some nice views overlooking the surrounding Welsh landscape. Here, the route will turn back towards the southeast on the return leg back to the trailhead where you started your adventure.
