Crackington Haven and Cambeak Circular Walk

Featuring some fairly steep and rugged coastal terrain that will be sure to leave you a bit winded, the Crackington Haven and Cambeak Circular Walk will likely not be suitable for young children or less-mobile walkers. Be sure to wear proper walking boots for the best footing along the trail. Additionally, free-roaming goats and other livestock will likely be present along the trail, so keep your dog on a lead to avoid any potential interactions.

Even though the steeper portions of this walk will provide a bit of a challenge, this is a spectacular walk that will really allow you to take in the natural beauty of the Cornish Coast. In addition to enjoying the wonderfully scenic seaside views from the viewpoint at Cambeak, you will also make your way inland on the return leg of the walk to explore the tranquil woodland expanse of Ludon Wood. This is a great walking route if you are looking for a bit of variety.

Setting out from the car park in Crackington Haven, you will make your way west across the bridge to meet up with the South West Coast Path, following it as it leads to the southwest to climb up the rugged coastal terrain. Here, you will enjoy some lovely views along the coast, as you make your way over two streams and head downhill along a set of steps that lead to a series of footbridges at the base of the headland.

After crossing over to the other side, you will climb up the steep slopes of Cambeak, where you will enjoy some beautiful views along the Cornish Coast. Continuing on to the southwest, you will skirt along the elevated terrain with the cliffside on your right and open fields to your left, eventually arriving at the edge of Strangles Road. Turn left along the road here and follow it to the northeast until you pass Trevigue Cottage, at which point you will turn right onto a footpath.

Here, you will make your way into Ludon Wood and descend into the valley, where you will meet up with the banks of a stream. Following them to the northeast, you will explore the tranquil expanse of the woodland terrain, before breaking free of the tree cover on a path leading more directly to the north. Follow this until you arrive back in the village of Crackington Haven, having completed your walk along the Crackington Haven and Cambeak Circular Trail.
