The Mullach Aise and Cnoc an Bhearnais walk is an exceptional, if difficult, walking route in the Sperrins AONB of Northern Ireland that will take you up two mountains for some amazing views of the surrounding landscape. While out walking the trail, you will climb uphill alongside the banks of Merlane Burn to reach the summit of Cnoc an Bhearnais, before making your way up the taller summit of Mullach Aise. This is a rough and rugged adventure that should only be undertaken by seasoned walkers.
Getting there
The trailhead for the Mullach Aise and Cnoc an Bhearnais Walk can be found 3.0mi southeast of Feeny at a roadside layby along Moneyneany Road.

For those adventurers with plenty of experience walking through the barren landscape of the mountains, the Mullach Aise and Cnoc an Bhearnais Walk is a fantastic route that will expose you to the harsh terrain and breathtaking scenery of the Sperrins Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will initially make your way to the northeast along Moneyneany Road, before turning off to the left. Here, you will follow along the winding banks of Merlane Burn, as you traverse the rugged and boggy landscape to the southwest that will eventually lead you up to the summit of Cnoc an Bhearnais, also known as Barnes Top.
After taking in the stunning views of the surrounding area, you will head to the north and descend the mountainside into a saddle, before climbing back up the steep slopes of Mullach Aise, also referred to as Mullaghash. Here, you will experience some more amazing views, before making your way down the mountainside to the east on the return to the trailhead.
