Ben Crom Summit via Ott Track Walk Description
Stunning mountain top views and a fun day out in the wilderness await on the Ben Crom Summit via Ott Track Walk. While not overly difficult, this route does feature some challenging sections of trail, particularly the marshland portions that can be slow going; however, the stunning views from atop Ben Crom will certainly make up for the trouble.
Setting out from the trailhead on Slievenaman Road, you will make your way to the southeast along the Ott Track as it traverses the lower slopes of Ott Mountain. After working your way uphill, you will skirt around the summit of Slieve Loughshannagh, while taking in the views of Lough Shanna below to the south.
From here, you will continue on to the southeast and traverse the open marshlands, trying to avoid getting your feet wet in this barren landscape before making the final push up to the summit of Ben Crom. Once there, you will enjoy sweeping views of the Silent valley and the surrounding area, including the Silent Valley and Ben Crom reservoirs, as well as countless nearby peaks.
