Roe Valley Country Park Walk Description

If the aim of your weekend walk is more of a relaxing riverside stroll than a challenging mountain adventure, then you will definitely want to check out the Roe Valley Country park Walk. While it may feature easy-going terrain, the intermediate length of the route makes this an excellent option if you want to spend a bit longer on the trails.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will initially head to the northeast to make your way towards a bridge over the river. Instead of crossing over to the other side, you will make your way along the western bank as it cuts through the atmospheric woodland landscape.

Eventually, you will cross over to the opposite side and follow it south to reach a viewpoint of O’Cahan’s Rock. From here, you will make a quick detour to the north to visit a small pond, before continuing on to the south. Following along the winding banks of the River Roe for quite some distance, you will eventually pass by the Carrick Parish Church and cross back over to the west bank of the river. From here, you will make your way north through the country park to arrive back at the car park where you began.
