Dunseverick Castle to Ballintoy Harbour Walk

No matter if you are attempting this route for the interesting local history or the breathtaking views over the sea, the Dunseverick Castle to Ballintoy Harbour Walk is an exceptional adventure that is suitable for a wide range of walkers.

Setting out from the car park, you will initially head to the northeast to pass by the ruins of Dunseverick Castle, where Saint Patrick is supposed to have visited during the 5th Century when he baptized Olcán, who would later become the Bishop of Ireland. The only ruins to view are those of the gatehouse; however, the stunning backdrop of the sea creates an amazing viewpoint to look out on.

After taking in the views of the ruins, you will follow along the coastal path as it heads to the east, passing by the cascading waters of the Dunseverick Falls to arrive at Dunseverick Harbour. From here, you will continue along the shoreline beyond Portbradden Harbour to eventually walk along the expanse of Whitepark Bay Beach.

Leaving the sandy beach behind for some more rugged coastal terrain, you will pass by Elephant Rock on your left and eventually arrive at the terminus of the route at Ballintoy Harbour. After exploring the area, simply retrace your steps along the same route to return to the car park at Dunseverick Castle.
