The Norton and Auburn Hill Walk is a laid back adventure just outside of the Howardian Hills that will allow you to experience both city and countryside walking. While out on the trail, you will pass through the town of Norton-on-Derwent, before looping around the countryside for views of the Howardian Hills. Make sure to keep your dog on a lead and keep an eye on children, as the city portions of the walk can be busy.

If you enjoy taking city walks that branch out into the countryside and enable you to appreciate the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, then you will likely want to explore the Norton and Auburn Hill Walk.
Located just to the east of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this walking route offers a nice mixture of city walkways and open countryside, allowing you to feel the hustle and bustle of town but also reconnect with the outdoors.
Setting out from the trailhead in Norton-on-Derwent, you will walk east along B1248 for a stretch, before turning to the south to cut across the open fields. After reaching the dismantled railway, you will head west and enjoy the views looking out onto the Howardian Hills, before turning to the north on the return leg that follows Welham Road back into Norton-on-Derwent.
