Loree Forest Loop Trail Description

The Loree Forest Loop Trail will expose you to some beautiful views over the surrounding landscape; however, there are a few things to take note of before setting out on your journey. While there isn’t much in the way of steep climbs or challenging terrain, there are some rougher sections of trail that feature uneven ground with rocks and roots. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking footwear in order to better traverse the trail. Additionally, this area does contain patches of poison ivy, so try to stick to the main path as much as possible to avoid any potentially painful interactions.

Even with these minor factors in mind, this is an absolutely fantastic day-hike that will get you out on the trails to enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting with amazing views overlooking Georgian Bay. Well-maintained and easy-to-navigate paths make this a breeze for hikers of nearly all skill levels. If you are looking for a fairly quick and painless hike near Collingwood, then the Loree Forest Loop Trail is an amazing option – so long as you stay clear of the previously mentioned poison ivy!

Setting out from the parking area, make your way north along the road for 0.4mi and pick up the trail on the left to begin the loop portion of the hike. Head into the cover of the forest and continue west along the trail for the next 0.5mi to arrive at a junction along the edge of the hill. Take the path on the right to continue around the loop.

Keep right for the next 0.8mi, working your way through the serene atmosphere of the forest until you arrive at the wooden viewpoint. Here, you will have an amazing sightline overlooking the Georgian Peaks Ski Club, as well as the shimmering blue waters of Georgian Bay that stretch out before you. Take some time to rest here for a few minutes and maybe enjoy a quick snack before continuing on the return portion of the loop.

After taking in the views, head to the southeast along the trail and keep right through the sparse forest for the next 0.7mi to arrive at a junction. The path on the left will lead you down the escarpment to the east, so make sure to take the path on the right to follow it towards the west. After 0.5mi, you will arrive back at the road that you walked along in the initial portion of this hike. Turn left here and follow the road back to the parking area to wrap up your time on the Loree Forest Loop Trail.
