Fellbarrow & Low Fell Trail Description

The Fellbarrow & Low Fell Trail is a popular walking route in the northern portion of the Lake District due to its stunning scenery and not-too-difficult terrain that gently climbs up the hillside. Setting out from the village of Thackthwaite, the trail will lead you across a stretch of open terrain to the west that will see you climb gradually up the hillside. With the Fellbarrow on your right, follow the trail south to traverse the elevated terrain and eventually arrive at the summit of Low Fell, where you will enjoy a commanding view of the valley below that includes Loweswater to the west and Crummock Water to the southeast. After descending along the trail into the valley, walkers can either retrace their steps along the same route as an out-and-back, or take on of the alternate trails to complete a loop around the hillside to return to the trailhead.
