The Blawith Common and Beacon Tarn Circular Walk is a fun adventure in the southern Lake District that will take you uphill for some amazing views of the mountainous landscape. While out walking, you will make your way past the beautifully calm waters of Beacon Tarn before climbing up to the summit viewpoint of The Beacon for some spectacular views overlooking this scenic part of Lakeland. This route is great for walkers of nearly every skill level, just remember to be safe along the portion that follows the road.
Getting there
To reach the parking area for the Blawith COmmon and Beacon Tarn Circular Walk from Ambleside, drive to the southwest along Rothay Road/A593 for 0.2mi and turn right to continue on for another 0.1mi. Make a left turn and follow the A593 for 9.7mi before turning left onto A5084. You will find a roadside parking area on the left in 2.6mi.

The scenic views that can be found along the Blawith Common and Beacon Tarn Circular Walk make this a relatively quick adventure that is perfectly suited for families and beginner walkers. While out on the trail, you will climb gently uphill across the undulating landscape that characterizes the region, until you reach the quaint shores of Beacon Tarn. After taking in the beautiful views of the lake with its mountainous backdrop, continue along the trail to the north, climbing further uphill until you arrive at the summit viewpoint atop The Beacon. Here, you will enjoy some spectacular views overlooking the Lake District, with the Coniston Old Man to the north and Coniston Water to the east. After taking in the views, make your way north to descend the hill, before looping around to the south and following the road back to the trailhead where you began.
