Pinnacle Lake Trail demands a lot from hikers, physically, but the alpine lake nestled into a theatre of the green-covered rock face at the top pays off for the intense exertion. To make matters better, you can turn this into a mini backpacking trip and stay the night for free, without booking, along the shores of the lake.

Pinnacle Lake Trail Description

Pinnacle Lake Trail winds up a challenging path to the ultimate reward: an alpine lake nestled below rock faces painted with layers of verdancy. The start of the trail will have you crossing a creek trail, and depending on the time of year, snow and mud create slippery conditions along steep ascents. You can use the tape along the route to help guide you to the ever-so-stunning Pinnacle Lake. If you plan ahead, you can bring your tent and backpacking gear and camp here for the night. There aren’t any services, so you will need to come prepared.

Do note that this hike is remote, meaning no cell service, and the drive may be tough with a standard car.
