Old Zoo Trail Description
Featuring some wonderful views of the hillscape surrounding Los Angeles, as well as some interesting highlights within Griffith Park, the Old Zoo Trail is a great option to explore if you are looking for a bit of a longer route in the area.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way south along Oak Canyon Trail, before turning to the southeast to cut across Griffith Park. Shortly after passing through the Mineral Wells Picnic Area, you will skirt along the edge of the Harding Golf Course and pass by the enclosures from what was once the Griffith Park Zoo.
From here, the route will take you to the north in between two golf courses, before bending back to the west alongside the Ventura Freeway to complete the final leg of the hike back into the trailhead.
