Your journey along the Cheyenne Mountain Short Loop Trail departs from the Coyote Run Trailhead. From here, keep right and hike along the Coyote Trail before merging onto the Soaring Kestral Trail. This path will weave between meadows and woods, revealing sights of Cheyenne Mountain above. At the next intersection, keep right onto the Bobcat Way, merging onto the Acorn Alley at the following junction. Soon you will have to cross over JL Ranch Height Road and onto the Racoon Ridge past the campground. Again, you will cross over the road, but you will track the Blackmer Trail this time.
When you reach the next junction, Medicine Wheel Trail will guide you to another fork in the road. Here, take the rightmost Zook Loop Trail. Follow this path to the route’s end, track the Coyote Run Trail back to the trailhead, marking the end of your exciting and impressively scenic adventure.
